Wayne Rooney’s son Kai signs for Manchester City; Full Details

Manchester City will offer Wayne Rooney’s oldest son Kai Rooney a chance to rejoin their academy now that the family have returned to England.

Man City snapped up Kai when he was 6 years old in 2016, whilst Wayne Rooney was still captain at rivals Manchester United.

It is believed Man City told the youngster when Wayne Rooney moved to D.C from Everton in 2018 that they would look to take him back into their development fold once the family returned to England, according to The Mirror.

The Man United and England legend spent 18 months at D.C United but is now returning to England where he will join Derby County as a player-coach.

Kai, who is highly rated by City, continued to play football overseas whilst the family lived in America.

The striker’s time in America has now come to an end after his D.C United side were thumped 5-1 in the MLS play-offs.

Wayne Rooney has signed for the Rams on an initial 18-month contract until the summer of 2021, with the option of a further year.

The deal will see Wayne Rooney become the highest earning player in the Championship after agreeing a £100,000 a week deal, funded in part by a record sponsorship deal with betting company 32Red.
